Month 1 Recap

At some point if I get some free time, I really need to write up a bit about the whole moving process. Long story short, the move went fairly smoothly, although moving when you have norovirus isn't fun, and having your husband's job yanked out from under him on the day you arrive makes for an interesting bit of financial shuffling and a new item on the to-do list. Then add to it $8000 worth of fraudulent debits from your checking account, and you've got one rather interesting week of welcome to Florida. Even through that all, we couldn't stop smiling about everything.

Here's a recap of all that we'e done in the first month (in random order):

  • Moved into the new apartment, which is simply fabulous!
  • Done a bit of Disney Dining (thank you Visa rewards points!). Since we've been here we've eaten at Boma, Olivia's, Sunshine Seasons, Liberty Inn, Boulangerie Patisserie les Halles, Les Vins de Chefs de France, Tutto Italia Ristorante, Katsura Grill, Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe, Yorkshire County Fish Shop, Columbia Harbour House, Landscape of Flavors, Good's Food To Go, Everything POP, Captain's Grille, and Cookes of Dublin.
  • Seen huge decorated Easter eggs at the Grand Floridian hotel.
  • Done Windermere's Food Truck Friday.
  • Went to the 24-hour "Rock Your Disney Side" event.
  • Visited the Windermere and Winter Garden Farmer's Markets.
  • Had a birthday day for Lily at Magic Kingdom (riding It's a Small World, Philharmagic, Tea Cups, and Peter Pan) and then a birthday lunch over at Epcot at Tutto Italia, where she had the servers sing to her in Italian.
  • Did a road trip for the weekend in Charleston, SC.
  • Saw our first Florida rainbow.
  • Went hiking in the Tibet-Butler nature preserve with awesome company.
  • Visited the Epcot and Magic Kingdom splash pads.
  • Went blueberry picking.
  • Visited Ikea.
  • Saw Herman's Hermits in concert.
  • Saw several small bands and street performers at Downtown Disney and took the boat there and back from Old Key West.
  • Spent a week at Old Key West resort.
  • Taken Lily to the local playground a few times.
  • Attended Epcot's Flower and Garden festival (and even completed the festival passport).
  • Completed the Nerd Herd "May the 4th Be With You" 5K.
  • Explored many local dining establishments.
  • Got all that normal day-to-day life stuff and moving stuff done (registering the cars, getting kiddo set for school, paying work/job search, dealing with the bank, grocery shopping, and other "normal life" things).

Looking towards next month, in theory things will be a little quieter. All we've got on tap as far as new stuff goes is Star Wars weekends and a Memorial Day pool party. Oh wait, that's just what's planned for the rest of this weekend. We'll see what we do beyond that! ;)
